We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
