Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Falso Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give Falso Service Experts a call at 315-313-6531 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
