The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to contribute over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last September, I had the ability to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume aid along with money-management and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took us around their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
