Feeling frigid because you’re noticing error code 270 from your Lennox® furnace?
This means your furnace ignitor can’t turn on the flame. After five failed tries, the furnace will stop trying to ignite. It will then go into Watchguard mode for about an hour for your protection.
When your ignitor isn’t working, it’s best to rely on our ACE-certified technicians. They’ve gone through detailed training, so you can rest easy knowing they’ll determine what’s causing the furnace error and will fix it to your satisfaction.
We believe in the quality of our furnace repair* for a year.
This part ignites natural gas, which helps heat your home.
Here’s how a furnace ignitor works:

Your furnace will tell you there’s an issue with a red flash from its indicator light, which it uses to exhibit error codes. It has this red light to flash code, much like Morse code.
You might see fast flashes or an alternating slow flash as it shares a fault code.
The price to fix your furnace depends on what’s wrong with it and how long it takes to repair it.
Before your technician replaces your ignitor, he or she will investigate:
Your technician will also make sure the ignitor is actually lighting the burner and that there are no blockages or cracked hoses within your system.
An ignitor always seems to fail when you need it most, resulting in an after-hours trip charge.
Here’s the usual costs to replace it:
