4 Tips for Furnace Repair

April 15, 2016

Spring may have sprung but in East Syracuse it’s not all warm and snug outside. Your furnace has been going for months attempting to keep your home comfortable, so now is the time to show your furnace some affection. If you hear funny noises or the heating system has stopped operating, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice a strong gas smell, you almost surely need furnace repair work and you should call Falso Service Experts promptly.

Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, check out these tips from Falso Service Experts.

  • Check that your thermostat has been changed to “heat.”

It may sound crazy, but we have hectic days and life happens, so it can be easy to miss the simple fixes. Neglecting to switch over the thermostat can make you assume you need furnace repair when really you can resolve the problem with a literal flip of the switch!

  • Check your furnace switch.

Since we’re talking about switches, make sure your furnace switch is on the up, or “on” position. Like we said, an easy miss, especially considering this switch isn’t one you actually look at routinely. Most units have built-in delays so give it a few minutes for your furnace to get going before panicking about needing our furnace repair man.

  • Replace your furnace air filter.

You should change your home’s air filters around every three months to help your heating system run more efficiently and prolong any furnace repair work. A filthy air filter is one of the most recurrent reasons for poor performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for illness causing microbes and cause you and your children to become sick. Change your filter to keep both your furnace and your home healthy.

  • Check the circuit breaker.

Check your circuit breaker panel to see if the breaker that controls your furnace is in the middle position or the “off” position. If the breaker has ended up in the middle position, cycle the breaker to “off” and then reset it to the “on” position.

Furnace repairs could be expensive, so avoid a potential issue altogether with seasonal maintenance from Falso Service Experts. However, if you ever do need furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to provide all your heating needs.
