Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are getting through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
